What is Rapunzel Going to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner?

Whether you are attending a casual Thanksgiving Dinner with a post Turkey pigskin toss or a formal affair there is no question that ShopRapunzels.com has the right outfit for you to wear.

I started thinking about my own Thanksgiving dinner and what would I choose from my vast ShopRapunzels.com closet. I came up with a few options that will allow me to be festive, trendy and leave lots of room for turkey.

For a casual dinner with the immediate family i'd probably wear my favorite Michael Stars Cotton leggings with our new Sam Edelman Utah Fringe boots. On top i'd put on a soft C&C classic tank top in white and top my look off with the Joie belted Brie Sweater.

For a dressier dinner i'd definitely head straight for my favorite T-bags Drape Chain Dress. It comes in multiple colors and solids. This dress is great because it can be dressed up or dressed down. Put on a great pair of black heels, grab a satin bag - maybe the new Lauren Merkin Bianca bag and a Minnie Rose Ruffled Trotter's shawl and you have a classic dressy outfit.

If you wanted a look with a little more edge start with the same T-bags dress and put on a knee high boot, pick your favorite Foley & Corinna City Clutch and top the look off with the new edgy Joie Amita Hooded Leather Jacket.

Rapunzel's works towards being more GREEN

It's not easy being green. Living a green life at home and at work is something we should all work towards. At Rapunzel's we do our best to try and conserve energy and eliminate waste. Of course I'm not suggesting that we have a compost section amongst our jean display. (because we don't - that would be silly!)

I've compiled a list of the things that Rapunzel's Closet and ShopRapunzels.com currently does to be more GREEN.

1. We use GREEN shipping materials for our web customers and encourage them to recycle the packaging materials.

This information is on our website:

Rapunzel's ships in Environmentally Friendly Packing Materials! Our shipping boxes are made from 30-100% recycled content and our white poly-mailers are made of up to 30% post-consumer content. We always try to correctly match the size of your box to the size of your order. The less weight we ship, the less energy will be needed to ship it. Please be sure to recycle all your packing materials and together we can make the world a greener place!

2. We offer our storefront clients a paper shopping bag alternative. We have a reusable Rapunzel's Closet shopping bag that our clients love and we try to encourage them to bring them back each time we shop. Now I can't say that always happens - but I can say that I see our reusable Rapunzel's Closet bags out and about around town.

3. Unfortunately in the state of Florida it's suggested that we don't consume tap water. (This of course is an issue on its own.) But since we try not to drink the tap water, we have a water club in our web office to try and eliminate excessive water bottle usage.

4. We have the lights in our stores windows on timers so that they aren't burning all night long when the majority of our customers are sleeping not window shopping.

5. We TRY to be a paperless office - we have efaxes set up between all of our locations so that we can fax and email documents as opposed to making multiple hard copies and distributing them. We don't print out the hundreds of emails we each receive daily. We receive and pay most of our bills online so that we can eliminate checks, stamps, envelopes and even mail carrier fuel if you want to look at the truly extreme affect snail mail bill paying has on the environment.

6. We recycle paper and other items that we do have to use on a regular basis. We've set up bins near our registers and in our offices for recyclable materials. Because our town officials won't actually allow us to be part of the town pick-up program, (our alley way apparently doesn't fit the aesthetic criteria for the recycling bins) we actually have an employee who donates her time to take the recycling to the dump site.

Environmentalists say that every little bit helps. While we can always do more things that are green, I think we're off to a good start as a company and a team. If you have any suggestions about how Rapunzel's Closet and ShopRapunzels.com can continue to be more green please feel free to share them with us! We look forward to your comments.

Meet Rapunzel

Palm Beach native Randi Siegal was destined for the world of fashion. In sixth grade, Randi launched her first business - an accessory line of denim bracelets created from her father's worn-out jeans. She won her school's entrepreneur award for her efforts -foreshadowing a career path that would be realized fifteen years later.

In the interim, Randi honed her business skills at the University of Michigan, where she earned a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in 1998. She then held positions in the financial industry for companies in Chicago, Illinois and New York City. But the pull of the fashion world proved too great. A simple twist of fate and her family's entrepreneurial legacy altered the course of Randi's professional life forever!

In 2002, Randi had the idea to create a stationery line, inspired by both her grandparents. Her grandfather Sol had a clothing store, Vicky Lane, in California and her grandfather Wilbur had a successful postcard business. Needing something to "pay the bills" while developing the collection, Randi took a cue from her grandmother - who used to run a gift shop in front of the postcard warehouse. Later that same year, Rapunzel's of Palm Beach, coined from Randi's childhood nickname opened its doors. Painted in her grandmother's favorite color purple, Rapunzel's quickly became known for its vintage items, jewelry, t-shirts, stationery, handbags, totes and other home décor pieces.

While working in her new shop, Randi soon began to acknowledge the shortage of local places to buy edgy, fashion-forward clothing. Known for its more sophisticated, tailored and polished look, Palm Beach did not offer Randi and her creative contemporaries the trend-setting selections they craved. So, in September 2003, Randi called on her innate sense of style and business savvy to open her first clothing boutique Rapunzel's Closet, two doors down from the gift shop, on Royal Poinciana Way.

Just as Lily Pulitzer paved the way for the pastel prints the area is often associated with, Randi introduced stodgy Palm Beach to a wide range of designers that the island's denizens often had to pick up on their globetrotting travels. Jeans became the shops calling card, along with an eclectic mix of new and well-known fashion and accessories designers. The resulting success was instant - so much so - that just three months later Randi introduced her second boutique of the same name, on the opposite side of Palm Beach, just off chic shopping destination Worth Avenue.

In May 2004, Randi launched Rapunzel's e-commerce site www.shoprapunzels.com, which allowed the snow bunnies to continue shopping after the thaw, and for people all over the world to enjoy the latest and greatest from this chic style emporium.

In 2005, Randi became the youngest director on the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce. Her presence injects a much-needed breath of fresh air into the island's old world establishment. Her youthful point of view plays an integral part in bringing her hometown into the 21st century, while still honoring its illustrious past.

In 2007, Randi decided to close the gift store, and re-open its doors as a children’s store, named Lil Rapunzel’s. Noticing the bulk of sales were from baby clothing and gifts, she purchased clothing in the infant, toddler, child and tween sizes that are sister brands to those carried in her adult stores. With her 2008 re-launch of http://www.shoprapunzels.com/default.aspx, Randi included these new children’s categories in her site.

Randi lives in New York City with her husband Sam, new son Brett and their precious pooch Newman. She travels to Palm Beach monthly and can usually be found behind the register or helping customers at either of the boutiques. She still dreams of that stationery line - and if history is any indication - we may be seeing that idea come to fruition in years to come.
